Built for the fire service. Mobile service for departments that want a simpler way to manage cylinder requalification without routine shipping or off-site handling.

ONSITE SCBA HYDROSTATIC TESTING

A more convenient approach to cylinder requalification

Hydrostatic testing evaluates a pressure cylinder under controlled conditions to determine whether it can safely withstand the applicable test pressure. Our mobile operation is designed around fire-service SCBA cylinders and department scheduling.

01

Onsite Mobile Service

We bring the testing operation to your department, helping minimize cylinder transport and simplify logistics for larger batches.

02

Water-Jacket Testing

The cylinder is filled with water and tested in a water jacket so expansion can be measured during the prescribed pressure test.

03

Inspection & Identification

Cylinder markings, condition and identification are reviewed as part of the test workflow before a cylinder is returned to service.

04

Documentation

Testing records provide traceability for the cylinders processed and help departments maintain organized service histories.

HOW IT WORKS

From scheduling to completed testing

1

Schedule

Tell us your department location, approximate cylinder count and preferred service timing.

2

Stage

We coordinate the onsite setup and an efficient workflow for the cylinders being serviced.

3

Inspect & Test

Eligible cylinders are inspected and hydrostatically tested according to the requirements applicable to the cylinder.

4

Document

Test results are recorded and passing cylinders receive the applicable requalification marking.

KNOW YOUR CYLINDER

The markings matter

An SCBA cylinder carries information used to determine how it must be handled and requalified. That can include the manufacturer, serial number, service pressure, DOT specification or special permit, manufacture date and previous retest markings.

Testing intervals and procedures can vary by cylinder specification, special permit and manufacturer requirements. We verify the applicable information rather than relying on brand alone.

3M SCOTTMSADRÄGER

Cylinder manufacturers / SCBA systems commonly serviced: 3M Scott, MSA and Dräger. Service eligibility is verified from the individual cylinder markings, DOT specification or special permit, and applicable manufacturer requirements.

WHY WATER?

Testing with a nearly incompressible medium

Hydrostatic testing uses water rather than compressed air. During a water-jacket test, the water-filled cylinder is pressurized to the applicable test pressure while the test system measures cylinder expansion. The resulting measurements are used to determine whether the cylinder meets the applicable requalification criteria.

Pressure + Expansion

A hydrostatic test is more than checking whether a cylinder leaks. The controlled test evaluates how the cylinder responds under pressure.

MOBILE HYDRO TEST LLC

A testing facility built to come to the fire service

Our enclosed mobile hydro unit is designed to bring the testing workflow directly to the customer location. The goal is simple: reduce transportation and off-site handling while giving departments a coordinated onsite testing process.

SCBA cylinder brands commonly encountered include 3M Scott, MSA and Dräger. Brand alone does not determine test eligibility; cylinder markings and the applicable authorization requirements are reviewed for each cylinder.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

SCBA hydro testing questions

How do I know when an SCBA cylinder is due for hydrostatic testing?

The cylinder's manufacture and requalification markings are a starting point, but the required interval depends on the applicable DOT specification or special permit and other requirements. Contact us with the cylinder information if you're unsure.

Do you test at our fire station?

Yes. Mobile Hydro Test is built around onsite service. We coordinate the location, cylinder count and service schedule with your department before arrival.

What happens if a cylinder does not meet the test or inspection criteria?

A cylinder that does not meet the applicable criteria is not represented as successfully requalified. We document the result and discuss the appropriate disposition with the department.

Do you provide testing records?

Yes. Documentation and cylinder traceability are part of the service workflow.

What brands of SCBA cylinders can you work with?

We commonly encounter cylinders used with Scott, MSA and Dräger SCBA systems. Eligibility is determined by the individual cylinder specification or special permit and the scope of our authorization—not simply the SCBA brand.

How much does testing cost?

Pricing is quoted based on the service request, cylinder quantity, location and job requirements. Use the quote form below and we'll contact you.
